Pasadena Audubon Society (PAS) is a non-profit organization focused on birding, outreach, and conservation of the many bird species that inhabit Southern California. Members can participate is a variety of ways, from attending field trips and monthly meetings to participating in outreach programs and habitat conservation efforts. PAS's field trips are excellent, with field trip destinations throughout Los Angeles and Southern California and the trip leaders are experts on the birds of our region.
I have been with PAS for 6 years, since I was 9 years old. PAS has provided me with fantastic opportunities to learn about birds in the field through their field trips. My favorite field trips were to Piute Ponds in Lancaster and the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains. PAS has also awarded me several grants and scholarships to attend Young Birder's Camps throughout the country.
One of many things that I like about PAS is the fact that it reaches out to people of all ages and experience, including young birders. PAS's Young Birders Club provides opportunities for kids to learn about birds and make friends with other young birders. The Young Birders Club has monthly meetings, field trips, and outreach programs. The Young Birder's Club has given me the opportunity to participate in field trips to Hopper Mountain National Wildlife Refuge to see the endangered California Condors and do outreach to save these birds.
